At 12.45 am last night, Friday 9th of April 2010, I typed the final words of my YA Fantasy novel.
Coming in at 90,922 words or 417 pages ...
My draft of Tremorgan's Gift is complete.
Because I tumbled into bed right after finishing last night, I had a little white wine and chocolate to celebrate today.
I was ecstatic last night, but today I feel sort of ... listless. I think that's the best word I can think of to describe my state of mind. I think I'm still getting my head round the fact that it's DONE!
Oh well done. I've also found that finishing the first draft leaves you with a strange feeling. Happy, but also sad that the journey has come to an end. Ecstatic, yet terribly aware of the work that lies ahead of you. But all in all, still a great feeling and awsome accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly how I feel. :)
ReplyDeleteWell done and congratulations.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Ruth. Best of luck with the editing.

Well done you. You've done it! Congratulations and where's the chocolate?
ReplyDeleteWhere's the chocolate? I thought you were buying! ;)
ReplyDeleteNice! That feeling you have now is either the post-traumatic stress or the sudden terror of revision :)
ReplyDeleteEither way, it'll fade. The feelings of accomplishment and being made of win; those are yours to keep.
