New YA Fantasy

As I have mentioned before, the new novel I am working on now is a YA fantasy.
(For those of you who don't know, YA means Young Adults)

Now, I have decided, just for fun, to be very secretive about the name of my heroine. Why? Well, to be honest, I think the name is so cool I don't want anyone else to steal it. Her name will be the brand or signature of all the books in the series so I've decided to keep it under wraps for a while. So, when I talk about her here. I'll simply refer to her as "T".

I started seriously writing about four days ago. My word count now stands at approx. 8,800.
I'm pretty pleased with my progress thus far. That's about 1,800 words tonight. YAY!

By the way, is there a guideline as to roughly how many pages per chapter of a YA novel?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

  1. T is the coolest letter for a name. Good choice there. Very good choice. I can't emphasise that was the best choice. This series is bound to be a success.

I don't know the rules, but as a once avid reader 15-20 pages per chapter is a good number. If too short, well that's just annoying and have to start the next chapter until eventually have to stop in the middle somewhere anyway. Too long, and i'd get into trouble for not doing my chores or not coming for tea, or reading too long into the early hours of the morning. Of course, larger font size and pictures will add to that.
